Player Henry Coleman

This news makes me appreciate Wendell Moore and Joey Baker a whole hell of a lot more, especially Moore, despite the huge deficiencies in their games. Moore probably thought coming in he was OAD at worse, or at least TWaD and a 3 year starter. With the logjam we have now and it being a question of who is starting, to not transfer as a rising Junior is massively refreshing.

It's easy to say that now, but it's only a matter of time until any future starter or star of note, with rare exception, is either coming from overseas or going straight to G-league select, so Duke -- and any other one school individually -- will rarely ever produce more than a career backup.

Then who are you cheering for?
It's not like the only NBA players I cheer for are Duke players. I'd just make the transition. Besides, I have 10 years of rooting for Tatum to keep me occupied for a while. If anything, not having future stars will make even less of a reason to tune into college. I'd then be cheering for scrubs without even getting the benefit of seeing them stick around 4 years (because they'll still be jumping to the league prematurely or transferring).

So it will be like watching current Duke teams with no chance at titles, no upper tier talent, and no chance I can watch them down the road in the pros.

It's not just empty talk either. I didn't watch any games live last season and was happier for it. I watched only 2-3 the year before, so it's not just because they were bad.

I agree. But K has already shown him that he'll play him regardless of performance.

The Baker situation is a bit more comparable, imo (except Baker is in an even worse spot for minutes than Coleman was).

That being said I do think there's some hyperbole. Coleman was not looking at 8 minutes a game or w/e.

Paolo and Mark are the starters, and TJohn the only other post player. Even plugging in a combined 50 minutes for those two, that's 30mpg for them to split. It's not the most unreasonable position in the world for the staff to want more than one backup to the entirety of the 4 and 5 positions...

The day is coming when every team will have just 5 starters and no bench. If any player is asked to ride pine for even a minute, they will transfer out.

I am wildly exaggerating......but not all that much.....

Really? I think he was looking at LESS than 8 minutes per game. If we assume Paolo plays occasional 5 and that Griffin or Moore play some 4, then I see like 15 minutes left over between the two spots. Feels like Theo would be the favorite for those minutes.

It's all subjective, I guess, but I thought K only playing Moore 20 minutes when he struggled for the third straight game against Bellarmine, and more significantly then playing him only 7 against Illinois and 9 against Notre Dame, was probably the right way to handle a guy like Moore who was supposed to be a team leader and then struggled mightily.

Granted, right after that was the long break without games, and by the next game afterwards, three weeks later, Moore was back up to 30 minutes.

Perhaps, but I think the lack of guard depth would have precluded the degree of usual downsizing, at least for AJ and Wendell. Unless Keels is slotted in for damn near 30 minutes a game or something

Lol, what is he even talking about

Nolan has a totally different mindset than a lot of these guys. He struggled and thought about transferring but he stuck with it and turned into a star and a legend at Duke. It’s still paying off for him today. He probably thinks about his situation every time one of these guys transfers out at the first sign of trouble.

Exactly, the NBA. I already don't watch any non-Duke college games because the sport is awful. Replacing 30 Duke games with two hours of jerking off or watching the NBA will only be good for me in the long run.
You’re doing something wrong if it takes you two hours to jerk off

I like to take my time, so I look at porn that doesn't arouse me -- like foot fetish or midget porn. It's more rewarding that way.
