College Basketball Recruiting

According to some who have seen him, this kid is like the second coming of Ty Lawson. Ty Lawson, the college basketball player, not Ty Lawson, the habitual drunk. Supposed to be extremely quick.

But probably nothing that O'Connell can't handle.

Honest question..... is Alex supposed to be a great defender? Is he quick laterally. Just in case this is the next TL.

you gotta realize that most of the posters here like to lay on the sarcasm, THICK. @sivartrenrag 's response was perfect though.

I get that. I've been around these boards long enough but was he being sarcastic about "the next Ty Lawson", Alex's defense or both?

The defense. Duke's defense has already been extremely lacking in the OAD era, something that has been well documented. On top of that, we've got a kid like Alex who is gonna be expected to guard a quick PnR guy... recipe for disaster

Why is a 6'6" -- and probably still growing -- wing going to be guarding their point guard?

UNC offered the #61 ranked player in the 2019 class today.

I will no longer mock UNC for recruiting #61 ranked players because, you know, they won a championship and we most definitely did not.

...and actually playing them, instead of having them pick up splinters on the bench.

7'2" (recently saw that he may be 7'3" now) Bol Bol shot 43.1% (28/65) from 3 in EYBL. I'm impressed.

Also, 68.5 2pt%, 70.2 TS%, 11.1 Block%, 67.5 EFG%, 128.4 ORtg

His name doesn't appear on any rebounding lists, though, so I guess he sucks at that.

That is crazy. If he is somewhat competent at rebounding, he may be a similar prospect to Porzingis with that type of shooting.

His block rate suggests that he can defend (at least around the rim), but I hear his mobility is extremely limited.

So when does the NCAA say Bagley is good to go to college?
The NCAA doesn't decide that. Individual institutions do. If you're talking about basketball eligibility....... The NCAA won't over rule that. They will make it official pretty soon I would think. Have to give the appearances they're being thorough even though they're probably not doing a damn thing.

Just a shot in the dark but maybe they are considering altering the one and done rule, or something along those lines. Considering he is saying "seismic" I think it has more to do with rules than any one recruit in particular choosing a school.
