Charlotte 49ers playing Duke tonight in NIT tournament | CLT Blog

The Duke Blue Devils will take on the Charlotte 49ers at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday, October 31, 2020, with a 7:00pm Kickoff.

Duke had a bye last week. And Duke isn’t doing too well this season with a loss against the NC State Wolfpack in their last outing in Raleigh. Duke led early in the match scoring 20 points in the 1st half while allowing only 14 for NC State. The Blue Devils lost their momentum heading into the 2nd half with no points scored while the Wolf Pack posted 17 on them to put them back to losing form with a score of 31-20. Duke is last in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a record of 1-5.

Against NC State, Chase Brice did have 190 passing yards in the game and scored a TD on 24 of 40 attempts but had 3 interceptions. Brice also led the ground game with 86 rushing yards on 14 handles. Jake Bobo scored 1 TD on 6 catches for 62 yards. Shaka Heyward and Rocky Shelton ll took charge of the defense with 8 tackles each.

Charlotte picked up their 2nd win of the season after defeating the UTEP Miners. Both teams were evenly matched in the 1st half with 14 points each made during halftime. Charlotte did better in the 2nd half as they were able to produce 24 points in total while the Miners could only score 14. The 49ers win their 2nd straight game with a score of 38-28. The team is 2nd in the East Division of Conference USA with a record of 2-1 and an overall record of 2-2.

For Charlotte, Chris Reynolds had 2 Touchdowns in the game after passing 185 yards on 14 of 23 attempts while Aaron McAllister sprinted 46 long yards with 68 overall to make it into the end zone twice on 8 carries. Victor Tucker had 86 receiving yards and 6 catches, also scoring 1 TD. Ben DeLuca took care of the team’s defense with 8 tackles including 8 solos.

Both of these teams aren't doing well so far this season while Duke has the worst record among the two. However, the squad does look to be improving after fighting back against NC State. Charlotte has some good moments but with just two wins this season it gets harder and harder to find opponents you can beat. The Blue Devils are due for a good game and this is their best opportunity to get a "W". Looking for Duke to come out on top of a tight game against the 49ers. We shall see.

Prediction-
Duke 31
Charlotte 21

A loss here would be the most embarrassing in the Cut era since Richmond in 2009/2011. Great vibes playing on Halloween night again too, five years after the Miami screwjob.
