Duke hosts the #14 Miami Hurricanes Friday night. Kick Off set for 7:00pm under the lights at Wallace Wade Stadium televised by ESPN. Duke has a 4-0 start while Miami has played only two contests due to Hurricane trouble of their own. A 41-13 rout of Bethune Cookman in their season opener and a win last week against a scrappy Toledo team 52-30 after trailing 16-10 at half. So this is Miami's first road game, first ACC game, and first game at Wallace Wade since the infamous eight lateral game ending debacle or miracle in Miami's case.

Against Toledo, Canes RB Mark Walton became only one of five Miami runners to gain over 200 yards rushing in a game, and leads Miami with 28 career TD's. He is also rated at 50/1 by odds makers of winning the Heisman this season. Malik Rosier has six TD's and one INT while holding a 68% completion rate while hitting his #1 target Braxton Berios for two of those TD's and an average completion of 17.5 yards per catch.

Miami opens as a -5.5 point favorite against Duke. And Duke is a little nicked up after LB Ben Humphreys was chop blocked and bent over by two Carolina OL. He didn't practice yesterday and is day-to-day. Brittain Brown also was injured after being tackled and is also day-to-day.

Duke is going after it's 5-0 start which would be the first time since 1994.

Now you youngsters don't be afraid to win. LOL

Yep. This has loss written all over it. Front and back. Side to side. Top to bottom. I'm still going to the game. I may start drinking early in case the game is over by half and Duke has a hard time finishing in the first half anyways.

Need Ben Humphreys back to even consider that Duke has a chance in this one. Brittain Brown too, maybe.

I was going to say that Miami hasn't played a decent team yet, but Toledo is actually 59 in Sagarin. Northwestern, UNC and Baylor are 41, 50, and 71, respectively. Miami was actually losing that Toledo game at the half, but probably can chalk that up to rust.

How much are tickets to a Duke FB game, I haven't been to a game in person since the 80's.

I've looked at every odds maker website and this may be Miami's ultimate trap game of the season. Odd Shark computer has Duke getting beaten 36-25. (It was also Carolina 35-28 winning last week). I'm getting there early Friday so I can go to the Chapel and pray about how I should bet.:innocent:

If I'm Richt, I have Rosier throw 8-10 yard slants and quick posts 85% of the time and just have the Miami WRs use their speed to get past our CBs. It was incredibly effective for Baylor and Miami has even better athletes than the Bears did.

I'm not terribly concerned about our defense stopping the run, Walton will get his yards, but IMO we are still so susceptible to big plays through the air. I think the data says that we are better at preventing big plays than we've been in the past couple of years, but I still worry about them, especially against a team with a lot of speed.
