I really enjoyed the film. Love they didn't go in some cliche fan theory direction.

really enjoyed the direction they are taking Kylo Ren as the primary villain. I'm so bought in on his character arc in a way i never was with episode 7. By far the most compelling character.

phenomenal movie. maybe a few too many corny jokes. not sure i've seen better visuals in a blockbuster.

i can get over a few wasted minutes on the casino planet.

100% agree. It was the perfect way to handle the Kylo/Snoke dynamic and the Kylo/Rey dynamic. He's so much more interesting as a villain than Snoke.

I wasn't a fan of Luke becoming one with the force, but I think it will serve the story well in Ep IX. Hopefully his "see ya around, kiddo" line is an indication of how he'll be spending his time as a Force Ghost.

I thought the did a great job of killing Leia. She was defending the republic and goes down in battle. Then she flew. I didn’t like that part. Enjoyed everything else. I guess she’ll die offscreen before the next one.

I think my expectations were too high. I thought the only redeeming quality was the Kylo Ren and Rey story and acting, which fortunately is the main part of the movie. They seemed to forget that and added an extra hour of much less interesting storylines. I wanted Fin(n) and Rose to die several times. It was extremely disappointing to me that Leia did not get her farewell in this one.

Are we supposed to believe Rey's parents are really two random drunks? I think the reaction to that news was much different based on your personal upbringing. It's either a Cinderella type story (if true) or a classic "the One" type story (if false, and she's the grandchild of Vader or something).

Just finished watching it. Gotta say I agree with SM, I think my expectations were too high. I liked a lot of it, mostly because Rian Johnson is a BAMF director but holy shit some of it was dumb. The casino planet and Del Toro's entire character, Leia not dying in space and the subsequent flying scene, Finn and Rose's weird one way love connection, the astral projection Yoda and then Luke.

I think I prefer TFA much more even if it is just a rehash of ANH.

I liked it. A lot.

I'm honestly getting pissed with the number of "Not my Star Wars, ruined my childhood" shit floating around in reaction to the movie. One of the main criticisms of Force Awakens (and from my own personal observation, it was from the very same people now complaining as well) was that it was too familiar, too "safe."

To me, this was the ballsiest direction the franchise has undergone. Definitely could've done without Leia Poppins, though. Worst scene ever in the saga. Give her a warrior's death, even if at the hands of a faceless TIE Fighter pilot.

My son cracked me up - when Phasma fell to her (presumably) fiery death, he waved at the screen and said "Bye, Felicia."

I saw The Last Jedi for the 3rd time last night. It has gotten better with each viewing.

I freaking missed the boy using the Force to get the broom at the very end on the first viewing. :disappointed: :rage:

My first viewing I didn't realize the kids were reenacting Luke's final stand against the First Order. He is the Legend the galaxy needs.

"Every word in that sentence was wrong." Luke's legacy and force-sensitive children live on. That scene was almost Spielberg-like, and caught my attention. In fact, part of the film (including the dreaded Leia Poppins) were Spielberg-like in the E.T. sense. Perhaps the entire series are children's stories for adults.

Al Pacino sucks. Never understood why he's considered a good actor. Legit atrocious.

He's had a couple subtle performances over his career. The first Godfather and Donnie Brasco come to mind. Most are ridiculously over the top.

I don't think De Niro is very good either, btw.

Yeah, both of them were fortunate to catch lightening early in their careers with leading roles in great films. De Niro, in particular, seems willing to accept any role that gives him a paycheck.

Id echo SMs list but Id swap in Thor for John Wick since I never saw it

DeNiro is definitely overrated but he's miles ahead of Pacino IMO.

DD Lewis
Denzel
Hanks
Bale
Leo

That's probably my top 5 best actors in random order.
