That is the situation I find myself in. I need a lifeline from this board to direct me to some interesting stuff. I like a couple of tracks currently on pop radio, but that is all the new stuff I hear. I'm looking for something else

Bought this album last year but didn't realize how much I appreciated it until recently.

Just fantastic.

I've been really into Pinkerton lately. Moreso than ever before. Not sure what that says about my life right now, but I doubt it's a good thing.

@torontoduke I'm old but here are some things I've been liking:

Wavves
Real Estate
Surfer Blood
Tennis
Cloud Nothings
Brand New (new album is a surprisingly different direction for them - super dark and beautiful and expansive)

A bunch of other stuff too. Rather than post a ton of links I'll make a Youtube playlist and link it here. Been meaning to make a new one anyway.

I second all of rome’s post except I’ve never really gotten into Brand New for some reason.

Also, if you’re feeling vulnerable and want to be destroyed, Juilen Baker’s new album came out on Friday.

I didn't like Brand New before, but with this new album they decided to go all art rock. I wouldn't recommend it for a party or for working out to.

The new War on Drugs isn't my thing, but a lot of people love it. Feels like an '80s version of Bruce Springsteen.

Thanks all. I am wading through some of these suggestions. Protomartyr has been a revelation.

I also like Wavves & Cloud Nothings, Rome. Good rock and roll.

That Protomartyr stuff is truly excellent. Sort of like if the singer from The National did an updated take on The Talking Heads (in the first song you posted anyway). Hits that sweet spot for me between experimental and accessible.

Continuing in post-punk, if you like Protomartyr I’d recommend Viet Cong/Preoccupations, Women (this was pre-Viet Cong but contains 2-3 of the same members and more lo-fi), Ice Age, and Ought.

It's Saturday night, you young folk are probably going out for a night of revelry. Here is a little soundtrack to kick off the night:

The SoundCloud link isn't available for embedding quite yet, but the version of "All I Want for Christmas is You" contained herein is pretty awesome.

I never really get tired of Band of Horses. Listening to Cease to Begin on vinyl right now. And as many times as I've heard "The Funeral," I still enjoy it immensely. I feel about Band of Horses the way some people do about U2. They are just so anthemic.

I might be way behind the curve on this, but today I realized that a few members of the hardcore/metal band Code Orange have a side project that I can only describe as an homage to 90s indie rock, although I don't necessarily think that is the intention.

The bottom line is that it actually kicks ass, and if you are familiar with Code Orange at all, hearing this stuff is a pretty stunning contrast.
