PREDICTION:

Duke 24
Pitt 28

This one feels like a bit too heavy a lift. It’s going to be extremely cold. Pitt has had our number since they joined the ACC, and their physicality always bothers us. It’s the type of game a Cutcliffe team would’ve gotten wrecked in. I think we’ll finally beat Pitt at Wade next year, but I’d be extremely impressed if we pulled this off.

Pitt 24
Duke 17

It's gonna be really cold. I think it will be close and probably the Under (O/U 52) is the best bet.

Let's Go Duke!

The difference between a being mediocre team a good team is not winning any of the GT, UNC, Pitt games, though all were there for the taking. Today may have been the worst. Duke was listless against GT and UNC is really good. Hard to win a game where you muff a punt on the 5 when you shouldn't have been anywhere near it, drop a TD on a pass that lands right in your hands and have a fumble returned for a TD. That's 22 points right there.

In the end, I'm fine with a mediocre football team because every once in a while, they could have a really good season.

We are absolutey snakebitten against Pitt, and in close games in general. It’s absurd. Learning how to win games by less than touchdown has to be the next step for 2023.

The defense, overall, was excellent today. So was Leonard.

Pitt scored 13 points on 3 drives totaling 70 yards and a fumble for a TD accounting for 21 of their 28 points. The only significant scoring drive they had the whole game was the one right before the half, 10 plays 73 yards.

End of half defense has been a problem much of the year. Need to clean that up going forward,

I’m so glad the Pitt game comes off the schedule as an annual matchup after next year. 1-8 against them since they joined the ACC, 5 of the losses being in crushing fashion.

So it took 3 catastrophic errors and a guy making field goals that even the pros don’t make in that stadium. If all this luck balances out in the end, Duke will be better than Georgia in 3 years.

Lots of bad luck, but I'm mainly disappointed that we have so little confidence in our offense to just get three yards that we'd resort to a slowly evolving trick play. Pitt defense made a great read and definitely blew it apart faster than could be reasonably expected, but the message the play call sends isn't great.
