Duke by 4.5 now. Becoming so painfully clear that Boone will be the full time QB tonight.

No game thread started is reason for this loss. But also good that we won't have one for posterity.

Fine season. Only bad at the end because they didn't lose more and eliminate any great possibilities earlier. QB play was not adequate given who the coach is and the quality of the players around him, but there was nothing to do about that. Beat Wake, beat a mediocre team in a mediocre bowl, hang onto all recruits and keep getting more talent. Ideally find a QB in the offseason but if not, 6-7 wins next season should be enough to keep the talent improvement going. Players who should be on 3-8 or 4-7 teams still exist on the roster.

Cutcliffe is going to be loyal to Montgomery, unless Roper expresses interest to come back. There is a chance Montgomery is simply an awful OC and we are stuck being awful on offense until we have overwhelming Alabama-caliber talent. That will never happen, so hopefully Montgomery improves with experience.

I'm hoping that (a) Scottie is a quick study or (b) he's a better playcaller when he has a FBS caliber TE to work with.

Now that Duke is going to lose to Wake Forest, every team in the ACC that lost to Duke will point to that loss as the low point in their season.

UNC celebration damages Duke locker room
According to sources at both schools, light blue spray paint caused “significant” damage to the visiting team locker room in Duke’s Brooks Practice Facility as well as the adjacent Field Turf practice field. Both are adjacent to Wallace Wade Stadium, which also had some areas spray painted following UNC's 45-20 win on Thursday night.

Interior and exterior walls in the locker room as well as the carpet were painted. The letters "UNC" were also painted on a wall next to a door entering the facility and elsewhere in the locker room.

As is tradition, UNC’s players began spray painting the Victory Bell in their school’s color on the field as soon as the game ended. The celebration continued as the bell was wheeled across the practice field and into the locker room, causing the damage with paint.

That'll just make winning it on their turf next season all the more enjoyable.

I just came across that and wondered if there was any legitimacy to the report. When Cutcliffe turned down Tennessee, I felt pretty confident he'll be here until he retires.

Worried that Driskel is a guy who carries too many scars. I think that was part of the issue with Boone towards the end.

Wow, Cunningham is a bitchy, punk-ass, ****.

http://www.newsobserver.com/2015/02/13/ ... .html?rh=1

In a formal apology letter to Duke athletic director Kevin White on Feb. 3, Cunningham said he was disappointed that Duke football coach David Cutcliffe never returned UNC coach Larry Fedora’s apology call, which came the Friday following the game.

“While I may not understand the charges assessed, we take complete responsibility for our students and our programs,” Cunningham wrote to White.

To close his letter, Cunningham included a photo of spray paint damage to UNC’s South Building on campus – four pillars were tagged with the letters D-U-K-E on Feb. 19, 2014, before the Duke-UNC basketball game.

“The University of North Carolina bore the cost of sandblasting these pillars and did not make public comments of the transgression. I acknowledge we have no idea who did this, but I simply included it to demonstrate that all fans, teams, coaches, students, etc. need to appreciate and respect the rivalry.”

He's pretty damn good at what he does. Him and Slater consistently have the most inside information for recruiting. Duke tends to freeze the recruiting sites out of interviews and coverage in favor of the news outlets.

This is the first time I've thought about the upcoming Duke football season in months. I love being a Duke football fan. Completely immerse as a fan for 4 months and then it's done. Win 8-9 games = fantastic. Win 6-7 games = great. Win 3-5 games = okay, no problem. Win 0-2 games = let out a hearty laugh and move on. Win 10-12 games = sports fan nirvana.

Predicting 7 wins for 2015-16.

As someone who worked for the team under Roof, my football dedication is probably 10x that what I have for basketball. The past few seasons have been nothing short of a delight for me and it's incredibly refreshing that when I wear Duke FB gear around town, I actually get a lot of "they are really on the up and up aren't they" rather than the "oh, I didn't know Duke had a football team" comments during the Roof years.

I see 7 or 8 wins on the schedule, however if we beat GT at home all bets are off and we could easily win 10 or 11.
