Books

That reminds me of my son's report on Abraham Lincoln: Ham Lincoln was the president. He went to a movie and got shot in the head.

Good new Epic Rap Battle. This could easily go in a couple other threads, I guess.

I wish Martin would finish The Winds of Winter before the whole book is spoiled for me by things I've accidentally read about the show. I know the show has departed from the books, but not entirely.

I saw that he released something recently. He also put out an Arya chapter last year or the year before. I haven't bothered to read either because I imagine it will just be frustrating not to have more.

I didn't read it either, but it's supposedly a continuation of the Dorne story line. I guess he did it to appease some of the people who are freaking out that they dead-ended that in the show.

I've been reading The Malazan Book of the Fallen series. I think I may die and Cal may break that UCLA title record before I finish these.

I thought that was boring as fuck. The show probably made the right move on that one, unlike most of their other changes.

The people who live and breathe GoT don't care about how boring any part of it is, they want it all reproduced in every minute detail.
Zealots be zealous.

[tag]NCCUknow[/tag], you may enjoy The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney. It's a bit derivative of Franzen (dysfunctional family, satirical tone), but I'm finding it very good so far.

Just to piss Physicsfactor off, I've started working on a fantasy novel while I should be working on the sequel to my cowritten novel.

Going shockingly well so far.

Sweet. Would love to read it whenever you have a draft. (I can't guarantee promptness.)

Deepdark will like it. IIRC, he's the fantasy fan here.

Feel free to write at a GRRM pace. I'm determined to read the entire Malazan series before I start something different - mainly because the books are so huge and complicated I'll forget wtf was going on if I switch to something else - so I've probably got 3-4 more years before I need another book.

Between all my other projects I probably won't finish it for a couple years. The proper length for it feels like 400 or so pages. And then I have to find a publisher, which could take a long time, and they usually take a year to put it out.

Rome, haven't you earned some equity with your previous publisher? It would seem like you've proven enough that they could/should save you the hassle of having to find a new one.

I look forward to this fantasy novel. That's basically all I read when I read for pleasure. Take as much time as you need to crank out a series before going back to the co-authored sequel.
