Books

About 200 pages into the second book. More characters have been added, but I still find myself rushing through every chapter that is not Arya, Jon, or Tyrion.

We need an official Board Book Club, or BBC for short. Anyone interested in a BBC?
I'd like that, since it would force me to read books that I am never exposed to. Seriously, some of the books you guys know about en masse I've never even heard of.

Catelyn gets better. Still not my favorite by far. I don't think I'll ever forgive her for being such a bitch to Jon. You should hate Eddard for sleeping around. Don't take it out on his child, who is a lot cooler than your daughter.

That's not really a spoiler, so I'll leave it as is.

Oh, your mind will be blown by the time he finishes these last two books. Your "prissy little illusions will get shattered" 8-)

I might have to take a break after book two. There is only so much reading time I can devote to this series.

I'd pace yourself to where you are ready for when the 6th book comes out. It will be close to a two year break between the 5th and 6th book for me. =(

Well, I seem to be able to read these 800-1000 page books in a little over a week. Been reading the second for two days and I'm on page 210. I'm not a fast reader so this is impressive for me.

I figured I'll read one book in between each of the next three.

My wife is still pushing through book 3. Pisses me off. She reads like a chapter a night. So many chapters left until I can talk to her about the series.

I'm on a year+ epic, fantasy-fiction binge. I just finished one called Blood Song by Anthony Ryan that was really good.

Started GOT today. Haven't read a fantasy novel since the Dragonlance series. I was like 8 years old or something like that.

Tomorrow I'll be replacing this ancient Kindle WiFi with the Paperwhite.

Finished "Where Men Win Glory" recently. Pat Tillman was a very unique man. Rest In Peace.

I'll be finishing the first book of GOT tonight, then probably will begin watching the first season. I'd like to be done with the third book and have watched through the end of season 2 before 3.31. It has been really good.

I enjoy Junot Diaz. Not in my upper echelon, but someone whose career I'll follow.

ditto.

Also, not sure if I posted here but Roth's American Pastoral was on a whole other Franzen-like level for me. Sooooo good.

I've been meaning to read that for a long time. Most people say it's his best book.

I read Everyman and loved it. I liked Exit Ghost as well, though not quite as much. But both of those are pretty slim and not considered "essential Roth."

Took a little break from GoT and picked it back up. Read 150 pages this morning. If Arya was the only character I'd be okay with that.

I don't really remember her chapters in the earlier books. But in the last two, I dreaded when her chapters came up.
