I’m embarrassed to admit how giddy and how much gloating I’ve been doing since I saw the score last night. Stayed up til 5:30 in the morning enjoying a ton of Tar Heel tears.

Am I crazy for thinking this was one of their more hate-able teams in a while? Bacot is obvious. I feel like Cormac Ryan is obvious too. Ingram talked entirely too much shit for someone who will never do anything outside of college. The entire celebration in Cameron after the game, Hubert not apologizing (far as I know) for their handling of that situation, the Zayden High dude on the bench is an All-American douche. Combine that with how much their former players talk shit (Brice Johnson and Theo Pinson first come to mind here) and are generally far from being anything resembling impartial (Joell Berry, KJ Smith) and I feel like my hatred for them right now is at an all time high.

I've been irrationally happy all morning and browsing the free IC. I have no shame about it. Just glad to see their retirement home team finally get sent packing.

My guess is we prob have to hold our breath one more year as itwill be the last chance for Hubert to build a team with a combo of his own 23 year old players (including what will likely be a great backcourt) and geriatrics from the portal. I think his roster advantages will start to wane after that and he'll ideally get exposed a bit more. I do think the Bacot and Ryan losses are a big deal- those were perhaps their two best defenders. Maybe Ingram is in there too. Bacot's big step forward this year was actually on defense even if he took a backseat on offense.

I mean last night was an all time shit coaching job. You don't change up your crunch time lineup for the first time in the Sweet 16.

According to free board IC, Hubert not playing the greatest defender in program history (Seth Trimble), was a large reason why they lost.

Certainly one of the more hateable teams in recent memory. Their '12-'13 squad with the likes of bruce johnson, pj hairston, reggie bullshit, dexter strickland, leslie mcdonald, jp tokoto, and jmm was pretty douchebaggy. But that squad wasn't very good (finished 3rd in conference and first weekend exit).

Even their 17 title team wasn't as shitty, just annoying with luke maye and justin jackson.

I am also giddy and gloating but I am not at all embarrassed. Fuck them

Trimble and Cadeau’s mom both were tweeting and pissed off at Hubert’s decision to bench them. If I had to bet, Trimble is definitely out the door. Cadeau could be a ? Mark now too. Even if Cadeau and Davis return, I don’t think that back court is making a final four or winning it all

I'm starting to think UNC's average rate of a championship game appearance every other season going back to 2016, or 5 title game appearances in 17 years, was not sustainable going forward and they will in fact not have won another three titles by 2040

All their success under Roy and the utterly absurd run with Manek two years ago definitely scarred a lot of people (myself included). Them making a couple title games would be fine and expected, but 5/17 was ridiculous.

K made 7 in 16 years between 1986 and 2001, for reference. 5/17 was the second best I could find in the modern era. UConn went 5/24 from 99-23, and could be 5/20 and 6/24 if they get to Monday night again this year.

Kentucky also played in 5 between 1996 and 2014, but they were in bursts. Three straight from 96-98, then 12 and 14.

It's still an insane number. In the 17 seasons before that span, they had a grand total of one. And in the 17 seasons before *that*, in the prime of the christ-like Dean Smith, they went to what, three? Which is still a huge success and probably as good as any program can realistically hope for.

Maybe NBA isn't everybody dream, but the time to head to the NBA for Bacot & Caleb was the 2022 draft

It's funny how IC always inflates the importance of a terrible offensive player by claiming they're a defensive specialist. Ginyard, Strickland, Trimble, etc. Pretty sure no one is trying to inflate Jaylen Blakes among our fanbase.

Can someone for the love of god post some ic gems of the meltdown going on over there right now
