Virginia Tech Predictions

44-17. On the road. VT reeling=Duke in trouble

Although at WW, VT is a road game, too

VaTech wins somewhat easily. We play a tough three quarters and fade away in the fourth where they build a two TD lead on us.

I can see either happening really. I can see us folding in that environment and I can see us surviving the initial onslaught and shredding their defense as they wear down. I'll go with me cussing a lot regardless.

So is anyone going to the game? I went to the 2004 edition out there where I think we crossed mid-field like one time. My roommate, who was a scholly WR relegated to the kick return unit, came back from Blacksburg that night and ranted about the coaching staff for about half an hour.

Nevertheless, that was my favorite atmosphere of any stadium I've ever been to. Fall along the New River is amazing.

Nervous about this game. Not sure we are as good as the new-found hype, just like we were not as bad last year when we lost a bunch of close ones. VaTech has got to be somewhat angry over a poor year so far. We got run over by the physical Stanford team, and really run over by UVa until some big plays in the 2nd half. But, we have played VaTech tough and our guys sound more confident than being too high. But who knows.

Think it's 31-14 VT. I think Duke will be in it at halftime but a second half punt block (or another special team play) gives VT the lead and they don't look back.

For the record, I predicted Duke to be 2-10 so anything above is already gravy at this point.

One win from bowl with 6 to go is no longer gravy no matter the preseason prediction

I look at the schedule and it's just brutal all things considered. I hope for the best but it's going to be tough finding another win even with certain team's question marks and/or struggles.

I agree with that. I don't see one on the schedule.

I don't think VPI is the same team they have been in the past. They have lost to some pretty mediocre teams this year. I still think that from a talent and depth perspective, they are superior to Duke at nearly every position. However, if they view Duke as the remedy for their losing streak, they may be in for a surprise. Should be a pretty easy win for Tech, but if things stay close and they get tight, we could steal one. This is a lesser version of the VPI team that lost to JMU.

The casinos have this down to 9 or 9.5 now, after being as high as 10 or 10.5 yesterday. Most opened at 9.5. 57% of the money is on Duke +9 today. Can't believe how much the betting public loves Duke in this game.

Here's an NFL.com article from this summer touting Logan Thomas as the 2nd best NFL QB prospect in the country:

Duke is going to stay within 9 points of college Cam Newton v2 on the road?

I agree with 34-24 VT. They are a different team at home, but we've played better VT teams closer with worse Duke teams. I will say if we have a touchdown + lead in the 2nd half, VT will panic and make a costly mistake.

We're hurt and they're angry and probably have re-focused.
