The draw seems obviously favorable to Virginia if you ask me. I think if you were to rank the rest of the ACC teams in order of likeliest to beat Virginia, it would be something like 1. Duke 2. ND 3. NCSU 4. Miami, and all four of those teams are in the other half. It's not that the bottom half is that much stronger, it's just more dangerous, and has all of the bubble drama to boot.

I think UNC can beat UVa without Anderson. I'm oddly confident of that.

I know it just happened, but Louisville's zero-dimensional offense does not seem well suited to beating UVa. And Carolina might be broken after Saturday.

scacchoops ran its game sim for the full tournament and the results will not shock you.

Wednesday afternoon:
#5 UNC vs #12 Boston College: Shocker in Greensboro as Boston College defeats UNC in OT 83-79. Olivier Hanlan scores 24 points and Patrick Heckmann adds 18 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. BC's main advantage from from long range where they made 8 3 pointers as compared to just 1 from the Tar Heels.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

On to Thursday afternoon and a less amusing (but equally predictable) result:

#1 Virginia vs #9 FSU: A game of runs. The Cavaliers led by double-figures after 10 minutes, but FSU closed the gap late in the 1st half and trailed by just 3 at half. Virginia once again jumped out to an 8 point lead early in the 2nd half. After that, UVA went ice cold scoring just 8 points over a 10 minute stretch as FSU went on a 29-11 run to take a 7 point lead at 59-52. The UVA defense stepped up from there and FSU simply couldn't score late. A key turnover from Xavier Rathan-Mayes gave UVA the opportunity they needed as Malcolm Brogdon hit a baseline jumper to give UVA the win at the buzzer. Virginia wins 66-65. Anthony Gill led UVA with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Brogdon added 13 points and the crucial game-winner.

Duke avoids NCSU and Miami and makes the final, where....

#1 Virginia vs #2 Duke: This was the matchup we all wanted. The first half consisted of a yo-yo game, Virginia would jump out to a 5-7 point lead and Duke would come back. At half, Virginia led Duke 26-22. Virginia extended the lead to 33-24 early in the 2nd half on a 3 by Malcolm Brogdon. Duke could only cut the lead to 6 points after that and Virginia wins the ACC Championship Game 59-49. Duke made just 13-23 free throw attempts and just 4-13 from long range. London Perrantes led Virginia with 18 points and 6 assists.

In other words, two straight hours of people typing "GAME" in chat.

49 points?

I'm not buying it.

If we put up 49 in the ACCT final (idc if it's UVA), we might as well not go to the tournament.

Hopefully Hanlan goes 2013 ACC Tournament on UNC tomorrow. When I watch VT play its hard to believe they only won two conference games. They don't look terrible in the same way that Wake and GT do.

Buzz is a Great coach and his team plays hard for him. They have a bright future.

Seems like Wake just gave up towards the end of the season. Ugly finish for them.

Seeing Duke favored by 8 or 8.5, Notre Dame favored by 4.5 or 5 and UNC favored by 2.5. Virginia won't lose. Favored by 12-13.

Duke wins today and a #1 seed is very likely. Duke loses, and they are Kentucky's #2.

Duke loses today, right?
