Duke Recruiting General Discussion

Not sure, because the offer happened so recently. I'll ask some people. Like others have said, I have to think that the fact that Ignite no longer exists and that Cal moved to Arkansas makes us one of the frontrunners.

In general, I imagine a lot of recruits will be watching this year's Duke team. Scheyer hasn't had a truly elite prospect yet. Lively went lottery and Flip probably will too. But that's the end of the lottery. What Scheyer does with Flagg, and to a lesser extent Maluach, matters.

Probably doesn't apply to Dybantsa. I imagine he'll be making his decision in November like most recruits do.

Also surprised it took this long. Feel like this kid has been hyped for a while. Are him and the better Boozer mutually exclusive?

Think the strategy is definitely to target the top ~10 HS prospects each year, and then build around them via the portal with experienced role players. We leaned way too heavily into the blue chip prospects at the expense of continuity/having veteran leadership to help round out the team. Gotta imagine Scheyer knows this.

I saw this dude play in person! He was on the team that I watched Flagg play against in Peach Jam. He was pretty scrappy and athletic and got a few buckets, but he was like the tallest player on his AAU team at 6'6". He had to guard Flagg, and Flagg had a monster game, but Greer at least tried to challenge him a lot.

Anyway, he'd be a good offer. Has enough all-around game and give-a-fuck to see the floor.

Plot-twist: he's actually a long-armed athlete whose shot is still developing. Didn't see that coming.

Where are all these white guys with long arms coming from recently? And by "all", I of course just mean "two", but that's a 200% increase over our previous total of "Austin Nichols".

Question is, would he stay around long enough? Because at first glance he screams like the type of recruit we've had the past decade+ that doesn't play much his freshman/soph year and then transfers out.
