Player Theo John

I don’t really understand this. I don’t necessarily mind it but it seems redundant. Unless they view Coleman as a 4/3, and don’t view him as a backup to Williams, then I guess it makes sense. If this causes Coleman to transfer I’ll be upset.

if this doesn’t cause anyone to transfer it’s a good pick up. He’s good depth at the 5, and great insurance in case of injury or foul troubles. This also means Banchero is never playing the 5 Imo.

Apparently he has a 7'4 wingspan. Half of that is probably the distance between his shoulders, but still.

Fun porn from an early 2020 article:

MU, which is ranked ninth in the USA Today coaches poll and No. 10 by the Associated Press, can clinch at least a share of the conference title with a victory over Villanova (20-8, 11-4) on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles have the best defense in the Big East, according to the adjusted efficiency rankings at the college basketball statistics website KenPom.com.

A lot of that success can be attributed to the rim protection from John. He leads the conference in blocked shots with 63. John has strong cases to be the league’s most improved player and defensive player of the year.

And more importantly:

John swats away shots with the force of volleyball spikes. He unleashes primal screams after throwing down monstrous, two-handed dunks. He glowers at opponents after committing a hard foul. If there is a fracas underneath the basket, John is sure to be involved.

I still hate it if it pushes Coleman away, but he basically sounds like the ideal college center, especially given that he'll be 23 before next season starts.

^ I'm not ashamed to admit that made me fap.

I'm starting to like this guy more and more.

That's a good point. Coleman can guard a lot of college centers, but imagining a whole season of running 5-on-5 in practice where Coleman is giving up half a foot to Mark, and Paolo is being guarded by Baker or Keels, sounds less than ideal.

Also, I really think that having Theo in the mix as a good four-year vet just helps raise the level of practice competition overall and set day-to-day expectations for what's still a very young team. The only guys on the whole roster that have played a game in front of the Crazies are Moore and Baker. That's still the biggest value add to me.

I've been sitting here for the last 10 minutes trying to decide if I like Theo John better than John Theo.

Someone help me.

Couple of Theo media hits from this past week, including Andre's podcast. Also, as Dre said on Twitter: "I am not the original author of the tweet lol" -- obviously Theo isn't coming in expecting to start, despite the title of that second video.

There's a specific NBA player he looks like, but I can't put my finger on it.
