Yeah, we all knew he was coming back. He is not good enough for the NBA and probably never will be.

What's gross is the hyperbole and that people are seemingly still addicted to counting per game stats.

Maye is not even a top 5 big.

Marques Bolden had a higher BPM than Maye last year. He also had a better ORtg and DRtg.

Marques is bigger, stronger, can dunk, and is just better overall, but you don't see people saying he's the best returning player in college basketball.

If Azubuike comes back for Kansas, he's another guy better than Maye.

Bigs like Konate for WVU, Tillie for Gonzaga, and Happ (if he comes back) for Wisconsin are also better.

Best returning anything in CBB these days is often as not the 'tallest dwarf'. Much credit to him for being way better than expected, but him being in the conversation of best returning big man simply means there are no good returning big men.

That's one way to look at it. You could also point out that Luke Maye shot 43% from three. He also had a much better defensive rebounding percentage and he was still efficient on much higher usage than Bolden.
