College Basketball Recruiting

I'm seriously wondering how the shoe companies measure their return on investment of all the shady shit they do and how they decide how much of their budget to allocate toward that.

Just guessing, but I assume it's essentially gambling on a player's future earnings/marketablilty. Some players obviously will underperform in the long run, but the ones who become superstars probably more than pay for the ones who don't.
Yeah but does it go beyond that? Just for a huge public company, you should have a good sense of $ invested vs. $ returned. I wonder if they have models that tell them a player with these stats and social media following would equate to X amount of revenues vs another player etc. Or models on if they get in on a kid with a certain age there is a certain probability that kid will stay loyal to their brand etc.?

But even then, even if the kid makes it you still have to pay them a shitload of money, like $300m for KD...I still have trouble understanding if it is really worth it

Fringe benefit of this maybe be the radioactive status that Nas Little, Simi Shittu and Romeo Langford now have being Louisville/AZ recruits. UNC was hoping to land one or more of them.

Of course Bagley's two other suitors are implicated.

Nas was Zona and he has opened things back up. I hope we get him if Zion doesn't come.

Simply having the inside track is likely worth it. Plus, they may be able to forestall a bidding war for an initial period.

We do not want Nassir Little right now

Well, we can't trot out Javin and Vrank at the 4 and 5 next year and expect to win a title, IMO. So I am grasping for any top 25ish recruits who could play the 3 (then move Reddish to 4), 4 or 5.

I'd be a terrible recruiter right now, cuz I'd only be looking at kids ranked somewhere between 60 and who-the-fuck-is-that.

Are coaches calling the FBI hotline to ask if it's okay to recruit certain players? "Hello? FBI? Look, this is Coach Roy Williams from the University of North Carolina. Now, we been talking with this young man, Nassir Little, and, uh, we already got some issues we're dealing with here so I was hoping you could spare us any future embarrassment and, uh, is there going to be any kind of problem if he comes and plays for us? What? Whadda you mean, that's not what this number is for? Hello?"

It is a thin frontcourt, Axe - I know what you mean. However, If there is any possibility of being dragged into this mess, Duke would be best to avoid anyone that is actually or perceived to be connected.

man, as much as Duke fans hate seeing a Hurricane jersey, I always enjoyed Larranaga's coaching. It would really bother me if Larranaga is dirty

If Zion doesn't attend Duke, I hope he goes to Europe or China! Anywhere but Kentucky!

So do you not get that Duke is going to stay away from Zion since he is directly involved with this investigation? Why would you think one recruit is worth the added scrutiny of an FBI INVESTIGATION ON DUKE?!

I've generally been silent on your posts here, but come on. Don't be fucking obtuse. If not being obtuse then you are just trolling at this point and like Zack said, be better.
