Player Marques Bolden

It is encouraging. He looked a bit clumsy on a few occasions, but he was a nice presence around the rim.

Still, tonight was the best Bolden's looked since October.

He had a great stretch in the second half. Is there hope??

My entire reputation is depending on this.

He looked like a college basketball player a few times last night. That's a big improvement. What really impressed me was that he was able to bring down an offensive rebound, hang on to it, and put it back up for 2 points. Those are three separate things that Chase Jeter has never been able to do.

At least Jeter rotates and plays D. Now he is a negative rebounder and offensive player. But Bolden just seems to be a negative player in every aspect, including body language

Prior to becoming a loving, nurturing grandfather, K would have never tolerated this sloth.

Hopefully he gets a season ending injury. Better off with Jeter and Vrank.

So basically this is exactly what some including myself feared with getting Bolden. He wouldn't be better than a Soph Jeter which means he's either A) going to come back next year which takes us officially out of the Bamba race or B) He's so set on being a OAD even after having a horrible season he still declares for the draft. But having such a terrible season could look really bad and Bamba wouldn't want to come. This season so far hasn't helped at all for our chances with Bamba and Bolden is doing nothing to help us this year.

Man it's like he was almost like a "luxury" recruit where we didn't really need him.

Dude, Bolden will have no effect on Bamba. Just like Jeter had no effect on Giles or Bolden or Carter.

There were no winners in the Jeter vs Bolden debate, in retrospect.

Also, that's not really a fair framing of the debate; we weren't choosing which player to add to team, we were deciding whether to add Bolden to a team that already had Jeter, at the risk of hurting Jeter's PT and development and increasing the likelihood that Jeter would transfer, leaving us without either of them next year.

In a world where a guy who's basically a 2-inches-taller Sean Obi with longer arms is a "luxury".

Bamba has already stated publicly he's going to be looking at Bolden this year.

Ok, so he sees that Bolden can't play basketball. What effect will that have on his decision?

Well, for one Bolden could be here next year taking minutes. For another, he could question whether our coaches actually know how to develop a post player.

(Yeah, yeah. I already foresee the objections to both those points.)

Coaches need to frame Bolden for drug use (maybe don't need to frame him) and kick him off the team. This allows them to excuse his poor play due to drugs and also gets rid of him. No harm done with recruiting. No real harm done to Bolden's career, since he was destined to be a backup in China anyway. Only liberals like Keeley would object to doing this for the greater good.
