I just didn't know he was that much of a freak - that's like elbows at the rim off of a standard rebound jump. Pretty encouraging WRT him not being overmatched around the rim as a PF in our system, which is a fun thought. And also WRT doing awesome dunks.

Honestly, if we have Hood and Ojeleye can shoot, I just don't see Murphy getting much burn.

I strongly suspect murph will play. Based on basically everything, his issues seem to be confidence-related

We will still have Hairston as well. Man, very little playing time out there. I think there will be a lot of uncertainty about who will end up being starters and who will get no minutes.

Terrible local sports guy pronounces Ojeleye a different wrong way every time, a couple not great new highlights:

TDD posted the game here http://openspaces.ezstream.com/play/ind ... 341E5FFE5D , just watched it, that alleyoop that Pantone posted is somewhere in the 35-37 min mark. Semi also hits 4-5 of his threes starting midway into the third quarter (he also hit 2 in a row right in the beginning then missed the next 3-4 badly). He didn't play at all in the fourth it looked like.

Almost all the 3s he had were spot up shots, he had one that was off the dribble and heavily contested, but the team the faced was pretty bad, he was the tallest player by 2-3 inches at least. I think all his points came off threes or dunks and his one midrange bucket is around the one hour mark where he drove to the right and pulled up around the free throw line. I'm actually surprised he got nine rebounds because they played him up top of the zone and the other team turned it over so much. He was rarely in position to even try to board and probably 3 of them were off his own misses.

To be honest it looks like he is barely trying, the other team is so bad. It's an awesome stat line for sure, but hard to take a ton away from it for me. He definitely has the tools to be a physical defender though, he just didn't need to at all in this game.

A few things about Ojeleye:

1) he's going to be a great ambassador for Duke. Really good kid.
2) his shooting form has a bad hitch in it. He may be pretty accurate from 3 in his current environment, but I'll be downright shocked if he can shoot well from 3 vs D-I defenses
3) no matter what absurd Maggette comparisons John may be making over on TDD, he's not in Corey's league in terms of his hops and quickness off the floor.
4) He has an NBA-level body already. He'll need to muscle his way into getting shots around the basket, but it's gonna be a steep learning curve vs high DI-level interior D, because he does a whole lot of double clutch stuff in the air, bringing it down to shoulder level to get it off. If he can make space and finish through real contact, that'll be fine.

Overall, though, I think his learning curve will be steep on offense.

BTW, by the looks of it on the game video posted above, he has improved some on the hitch in his shot between last year and this year. The ball is less to the side on launch, which should improve his accuracy. But his release point is now actually lower than it was last year.

So you take the good with the bad, I guess...
