Injury Report

Weekly Casualty Report

Figure we could use a place to keep track of this. Injury report for UVA last weekend below - no one left the game due to injury, did they? Shocking, if not. Anyway:

-Of the P/Q's, LB David Helton played and CB Lee Butler played a few important snaps but was mainly replaced by Tony Foster.

-QB Sean Renfree was available if we had to use him, so I assume he should be back soon, probably for VT.

-DT Jamal Wallace did not play last week after injuring his lower leg against WFU.

-NG Jamal Bruce and DE Justin Foxx, both projected starters who have been out, are reportedly going to get some practice work this week and will be reevaluated. Fingers crossed they come back soon.

-S Brandon Braxton and CB Boyd are probably the only other realistic hopes to return from the OUT list. Any reports on Braxton's injury would be much appreciated.

As a reminder, S Auggie Campbell has left the team. Also, starting DBs Walt Canty, Jordon Byas and Ross Cockrell are all beat up but playing through it. Okay, think that's it.

PROBABLE
David Helton (leg)

QUESTIONABLE
CB Lee Butler (lower body)
QB Sean Renfree (arm)
DT Jamal Wallace (lower body)

OUT
CB Jared Boyd (leg)
S Brandon Braxton (upper body)
LB Kelby Brown (leg)
NG Jamal Bruce (foot)
TE Braxton Deaver (leg)
DE Justin Foxx (hand)
S Chris Tavarez (leg)

OUT FOR SEASON
TE Jack Farrell (leg)
WR Blair Holliday
DE Allen Jackson (shoulder)
S Corbin McCarthy (shoulder)
S Taylor Sowell (leg)

Injury report: everyone.

Amazing the defense they played in the 2nd half Saturday with 7 starters out.

Ok, so ideally we're getting these 6 defensive starters back for VT:

DE Justin Foxx
DT Jamal Wallace
DT Jamal Bruce
CB Lee Butler
CB Jared Boyd
S Brandon Braxton

Getting over half the starters back would be helpful. Also the starting QB.

I don't think there's much hope that Boyd will come back this week, or that he'd start if he did. Also seems like Bruce and Foxx still might be a long shot. It would be huge to just get Wallace, Braxton and Butler back though, if we could do that. Then we could at least have a legitimate starting 11 with solid backups at each position.

Oh, and Renfree.

Thank you for information. And like previously stated, I am very impressed with the defensive performance vs UVA.

On the way back to my car I heard UVA fans talking about their quarterback situation. It seems they all expected Sims to be the savior of the program and now they are beginning to think he's not the right choice.

If the 6 guys above are good to go the rest of the way, then it's be hard to complain about injuries, given that we still came out 5-1, which was the best case scenario from the beginning.

Sorry, mixed up Boyd and Tavarez yesterday. Per Cut, Renfree, Bruce, Foxx, Braxton and Tavarez all practiced in some capacity today. Bad news is starting DE Dez Johnson was apparently hurt against UVA and no word on Jamal Wallace yet.

Fuck. Rest him for UNC

Let Mario Sanders come in and do his thing.

According to Stephen Wiseman of the Herald-Sun, the max number of scholly players out for injury-related reasons for any game this season has been 15. Only eight this week. Six who were out for UVA are either probable or questionable this week.

We need a bye week like no one else.

Sucks about Dez but let him heal for UNC. I almost want to punt VT and take a big whack at UNC fully healthy.

Could be much worse. Wonder what out d-line rotation will be this week - I'd guess Anunike, Sarmiento, Sunk, Foxx with D-O and Woodruff backup DEs and Ingram with a few snaps from Bruce and/or Wallace on the inside, maybe Wray if they're too limited.

Will be huge to get Braxton and Butler back in the secondary.

DOUBTFUL
DE Dezmond Johnson (lower body)

I'm guessing:

Anunike Sarmiento Sink Foxx

Helton Gamble

Cockrell Braxton Canty Byas Foster

I can live with that Topher.

Would love to see Wallace and Bruce provide even a little relief to Sarmiento. He's been playing a ton of snaps.

Foxx, Bruce, and Wallace back would be huge for chasing down Thomas. Will miss Johnson's speed on the end though.

I wonder if we'll see a fair amount of Woodruff for that reason. If he can hold his own against the run, he's faster than some of our linebackers...

UNC Injury Report:

PROBABLE
