"I'm not sexist, but blah, blah, blah, PC, blah, blah, blah mainstream media, blah, blah, blah cucks."

tbh good for him. He's allowed to have his own opinions and speak them. I hope he doesn't back down from this.

I see where you're coming from. I don't agree with what he said, but I don't want anyone browbeating him to apologize or anything. The marketplace of ideas will take care of Cam. If what he said is so offensive or outrageous to the masses, he's hurting his future earning potential by himself. I won't be putting on a Newton jersey, though. I find that part of your opinion curious.

Now American society needs to take a side. Women or blacks?

@DurhamSon For sportsbook: Will Twitter show more support for Cam Newton, an uneducated sexist, or Jourdan Rodrigue, a hypocritical racist? Sexist -300, Racist +250.

Oh wow.

I mean, really, she has an extra letter in her first name and is missing one in her last name? Who the hell is going to take her side?

Also it's a tad presumptuous to think her dad's jokes were aligned with white supremacy. Perhaps his racist jokes were aimed at white people. Like tiny white guy penis jokes or something.

I thought the 2008 vs 2016 election results answered that question already /Keeley

Crazy to me how many CHSs there are on Twitter who are digging in so hard on there being nothing wrong with what he said.

It really only takes a tiny capacity for empathy to understand that it's kind of shitty for a celebrity athlete to go out of his way to delegitimize the entire concept of women in sports journalism - and how strangely out of place and unnecessary it was. Weird world right now.

Something she said on twitter as a teen who she thought only her friends would see vs a professional athlete who should be media savvy by now. Both wrong but Cam is a douche.

Yeah, I don't have to support her in order to condemn Cam.

I agree with most of what you said. I was joking about buying Cam Newton's jersey.

I really like that even when the reporter confronted him, he didn't apologize. And why should he? Because everyone needs something to be offended by? I don't vibe with that. Cam Newton said what he said, it doesn't impact anyone personally so who cares? He said nothing that was overly offensive. NFL players talk shit all of the time, and we have seen MANY examples of white/black/whatever color athletes getting into physical confrontations and verbally attacking male reporters. There are YouTUbe videos (probably many) which are clips of athletes either physically or verbally attacking male media reporters, and everyone likes the video, yet we have outrage over this?

Those situations were much worse than what happened with Cam Newton. Get this fake outrage out of here.

For DECADES male athletes have "abused" male reporters, either physically or verbally, far far worse than what Newton did to this female reporter. The only real sexism I personally here, and this is just my opinion, is how we have a bunch of people, some on this forum, creating a double standard as to how male reporters should be treated to female reporters. Why should this female reporter be treated any differently than male reporters that take abuse from athletes? Where is the intense outrage when male reporters are hit with profane laced rants from athletes?

This type of outrage just weakens the feminist cause. I support gender equality, but I don't support a lot of the bullshit that goes on with many "feminists" or males that get caught up in this fake outrage and don't want to be labeled by feminists. This to me is an example of that. If you aren't melting down on social media when a male reporter takes shit from an athlete, then I can't get behind this meltdown.

You're missing the point. Athletes may go at it with male reporters, but they never dismiss them altogether because of their gender. Try to think critically about this and see if you can figure out why it's not good to dismiss people based on their gender/race/whatever else.

It affects every female sports journalist personally. It delegitimizes them in a locker room and in press conferences. It's not hard to understand. Cam is a former MVP of the NFL.

As to your 2nd post, all I see is a huge straw man. Get the fuck out of here with that.

Name some examples of a player on a team that many here root for verbally or physically attacking a male reporter and our response blowing it off.

Chs now burning his Cam jersey.

Anyway, I'm glad he did that. He seemed to mean it. I wish he mentioned Jourdan Rodrigue by name, though.
