As Mason's ft% regressed, Kelly's 3pt% rose to a more normal level, and Kelly has become Duke's most efficient offensive player. Mason's usage is much higher than Kelly's, though, and that's one thing that can be evened out to make Duke's offense more efficient. Mason should still be the focus at the beginning of each half, since he draws so many fouls to get Duke into the bonus, but once Duke is in the bonus, the offense should probably run just as much through Kelly (and Curry when his shot is on, and Cook if he keeps improving - all of them are good ft shooters). Shifting some of the focus from Mason once he carries Duke into the bonus would have the added benefit of making Duke a better offensive rebounding team, since Mason would be shooting less and looking to rebound more. This season is a perfect storm of bad offensive rebounding for Duke, with the center taking the most shots and the power forward hanging out on the perimeter as usual.
Not saying Duke should ever get into a mode where Kelly is at 25% usage and Mason is at 15% usage, but something like Mason 22%, Kelly 22%, Curry 20%, Cook 20%, Sulaimon 16% is probably closer to ideal after Mason does his foul wrecking ball thing, at least until Sulaimon breaks out and becomes just as good as the others.
