Player Ryan Kelly

Kelly's defense... so amazing this year. Leads the team in blocks and doesn't get scored on in iso situations.

I'd like to see his PPG climb just a little. He's too good to only be averaging 12.8/game, imo.
I felt this way about Kyle a lot, too. I think it might be that both of them are content to do things other than score if others are taking care of it. They both have their moments of dominating scoring, of course, but it's not like either of them has to score or else he is worthless. I'm really pleased to see that development in Ryan as an overall player.

About the points production - Ryan seems to be a fairly unselfish, team-oriented guy. In this sense, he reminds me of a guy like Trajan Langdon (even though they are completely different players) who also could have had a higher ppg average in his career.

Just finished the game. Guess we're about to start sucking like the end of last season.

Let's say the worst case scenario comes true and we lose Kelly for awhile. Yes we lose his leadership, experience, scoring and defense but I don't think it makes us suck. I am not saying we can win the title without him but I am in the camp of thinking K being forced to play Amile may be a good thing, especially if we do get Kelly back by the NCAAT. Let's say we lose Kelly but get him back by the tourney. Amile showed promise tonight. K being forced to play him can only help. We will lose an extra game or two but come tourney time, if we get Kelly back and the rust knocks off quickly, having an experienced Amile could be a really good thing. Of course that is just me trying to find the optimism in all of this.

Depends on what seed we end up with and when Kelly comes back. I think there would be some serious adjustment.

Oh I agree. Kelly is such a huge part of our offense and defense. The learning curve and adjustment would be pretty big. Even without Kelly though I think we could pull off a 1 or at least a 2 seed. Maybe I am being too optimistic.

Welp. Probably make us a little more entertaining to watch, at least, with the freshies back in the rotation. Efficient 30 point wins twice a week gets boring.

No big deal. Amile put up 5 and 3 in 9 minutes. He'll average 20 and 12 in 36 minutes the rest of the way without Kelly.

Sucks, sorry guys. Injury bug on a dominant team is the worst.

I think that, for me at least, unlike you guys and Marshall last year, probably the most annoying part is that folks truly don't understand the degree to which Ryan's unique skillset is an integral part of our currently-employed offense (albeit perhaps not as important as last year, as Quinn's improvement, along with Sheed, SHOULD lessen the blow).

But people still don't realize that, without Ryan last year, we were 1-2 with abysmal offensive output. And our other losses were almost all (not coincidentally) when Ryan was just plain cold/ contained. We're 39-1 when he scores in double figures for a reason...
