"Still awesome" isn't good enough. I want to experience the story as it's meant to be experienced. And the way it's meant to be experienced is with only the knowledge given to us in previous movies and trailers.

The Empire Strikes Back is "still awesome" after the 50th watch, but that can't replace the genuine feelings experienced when watching for the first time without knowing what to expect.

I hear ya. I watch them with my wife because I'm an amazing husband. I had to watch all of the Harry Potter and LotR movies with her, too. I could have gone without seeing any of them. I drew the line at the Hobbit. My dad actually watched that one with her.
