Travel

The Wynn is a bit of a trek from the good stuff but very easily walkable. The heart of the Strip is Paris/Caesar's/Bellagio territory. If you just want to gamble cheaply and drink for free for a while, Casino Royale around there is the place for that. If you want to get the sportsbook experience with a crowd of degenerates rooting for weird stuff, Caesar's. A fair blackjack table (3:2 insurance instead of 6:5 insurance, stand on soft 17) is impossible to find under $100 a hand now, so I wouldn't even bother with table games. Only $5 craps for pure grinding.

To find a non-prostitute to sex, you could wait around Thunder From Down Under when the show ends to scout the many bachelorette parties if you want a 100% sure thing with close to zero effort. You may want to pay the cover to get into one of the clubs later on, just to appreciate the talent firsthand - the servers in Vegas clubs are on a completely different level from anything else in life.

Pool bar at the Hard Rock always used to be a treat. Tough to distinguish the pros from the amateurs. All are spectacular.

Thanks, that was a great rundown. Unfortunately, I am just now finishing dinner, and completely beat after a brutal 12 hours of travel today. This may just end up a very expensive night of sleep before the shitshow this convention apparently is begins...

Deeply ashamed though. Oldness sucks.

I skipped out on most of the partying on the second night of this wedding. I came back to my room just to watch a replay of a blowout high school basketball game.

I am old too. And also weird as fuck.

While you guys were sleeping, I pulled a pill out of the esophagus of an actual old guy. Being old does suck.

Sure sign of aging - when you are on vacation at the beach and have the kids in the van just to drive around for a bit before bedtime, and part of your route takes you past bars/nightclubs, and you find yourself having a "remember when?" conversation with your wife.

Is 'esophagus' the new euphemism for 'rectum'?

Headed to Las Vegas this weekend for my 30th birthday (I know, so original).

Getting in Thursday night around 7pm, staying at the Palazzo.

Playing golf Friday morning, have a dinner reservation at Delmonico for Friday night, then hopefully going to see one of the DJ sets somewhere.

Pool party Saturday either at Encore or Tao Beach.

Leave Sunday morning at 9 am, sleep-deprived, but hopefully with some extra cash in my pocket.

Then running the Peachtree 10K Monday morning to actually celebrate turning 30. I'm thinking I may need an appointment at one of those vida-flo places Sunday evening.

Booked a boat ride to Alcatraz in Oct. Excited.

Visiting Atlanta for the first time, to commit hate crimes against Wendell Carter and sign them as "Tommy Amaker."

Everyone here wears a plaid button down shirt in all situations.

My girlfriend is applying to grad schools next fall. Trying to convince her to go to the University of Hawaii, University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, or the University of Melbourne. I guess this would not be so much "travel," since we'd be there for multiple years.

It's stunning. Chrirstchurch is about 350,000 people, so big enough to have things to do (and fairly huge by New Zealand standards). Also, flights to Australia are relatively quick and affordable.

Since she's not applying this fall, this wouldn't be for two years anyway. We may be broken up or the world may be in the midst of WWIII by then. Still, it gives me something to look forward to.

Living in New Zealand would also get you on a more normal posting schedule on this board, so that would be good. You would stay up until weird hours there, which would be normal hours here.

As if I don't post enough anyway. Imagine the horror if I had someone to talk to.
