Went to see Hamilton last night. I imagine most people on here are anti-musical, since it's mostly straight dudes. But Hamilton is not only the best musical ever made, I think it might be the greatest piece of art of the 21st century.

Went to my kid's middle school orientation today. The bus picks him up at 6:02 am.

It's insane. My wife is just gonna drive him (she has no desire to wake up in the 5s either) and drop him off at 7:15 when school starts at 7:25 and then get my other 2 to elementary school by 7:25. The middle school is 10 minutes from our house and he will be on the bus home (and there if he was going to ride it in the morning) for 45 minutes. His friend lives 1/2 mile down the street from us and there are no intervening crossroads and gets picked up 9 minutes later. I have no clue what happens during that 1/2 mile.

I'm pretty sure my schools always started around 8:15-8:30.

The elementary school used to start at 9:15, the middle at 8:30 and the high school at 7:30, but Durham switched it around a few years ago when those studies came out that showed high school students needed to sleep. I guess they don't think younger kids need to sleep. Because the same buses are used at elementary, middle and high schools, when they moved the high school to 9 am, they had to move the younger kids earlier.
